The open plan kitchen, living and dining space lead out onto a large south facing exterior deck via a bi-fold door system, encouraging the occupants to embrace the surrounding picturesque vistas.

The philosophy of a low energy building was present from conception, with a north to south linear orientation, maximising natural light and solar gain. Present thermal mass controls the internal temperature throughout the year, while using brise soleil to avoid overheating and glare during the summer months. Super insulated and the use triple glazed window units significantly reduce the risk of heat loss and air leakage. The heat recovery ventilation system is powered by an auger fed pellet generator while the homes mains electricity supply is fed by a number of onsite photo-voltaic panels. The rainwater harvesting system can save up to 60% of water consumption per annum.

Substantially reducing the living costs and minimising your carbon footprint, the Holzhaus design follows the growing demand for contemporary eco homes.
